Armenia is pursuing a consistent policy of gradually aligning with the West and reducing relations with Russia.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Stanislav Pritchin, head of the Central Asia sector at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

At the same time, the expert notes that Yerevan does not want to give up the economic preferences and opportunities that have arisen in the framework of its relations with Moscow:

"The [Nikol] Pashinyan government is gradually reducing cooperation opportunities with Russia, leaving only the economic aspect. I believe that if Russian-Armenian relations continue to degrade, these opportunities will also narrow for Armenia."
