Hamas and Israel agree on ceasefire and hostage release

Hamas and Israel have agreed on the release of hostages and the implementation of a ceasefire regime in the Gaza Strip. The ceasefire agreement will enter into force on January 19.

Axar.az reports that the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, said this.

"The first phase of the cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip will last 42 days, and during this period the terms of the next phase will be determined," he said.

The Prime Minister of Qatar confirmed that Hamas will release 33 hostages in the first phase of the agreement with Israel. The mediators are acting as a guarantors for the continuation of negotiations to ensure the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.
