Russia expects that during discussions, U.S. President Donald Trump and the Panama leadership will respect the existing international legal regime of the Panama Canal.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

"Moscow reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the neutrality of the canal and defending its security and openness," Ryabkov said.

It is noteworthy that Donald Trump has announced that the U.S. will regain control of the Panama Canal.
