Kyrgyzstan bans face-covering clothing in public

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed a law prohibiting citizens from appearing in public places in clothing that covers their faces.

Axar.az reports that the relevant information was posted on the official website of the country's president.

In addition, the new law prohibits the practice of faith and holding religious ceremonies in nursing homes, colonies, and military units.

The state also restricts the distribution of religious literature in public places and educational institutions. The establishment of political parties on religious grounds is also prohibited. Violation of these rules will result in a fine of 20,000 soms (approximately 374 manats).
