Armenia is preparing to use the document on its membership in the European Union (EU) as a means of blackmailing Russia.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by Russian political scientist Stanislav Tarasov.

Tarasov added that these steps by Yerevan may be related to the upcoming elections - by signing this law, President Khachatryan demonstrates his loyalty to his partners in the West.

However, the political scientist emphasized that Europe does not show real interest in Armenia. According to Tarasov, European countries see Yerevan only as a tool against Moscow.

It should be noted that the Armenian president signed a law that envisages the start of the country's EU membership process.
