Iranian state television has urged citizens to delete WhatsApp, claiming—without evidence—that the app shares user data with Israel amid the ongoing conflict.

Axar.az, citing Euro News, reports that WhatsApp, owned by Meta, denied the accusations, stressing its end-to-end encryption and refusal to share bulk data with any government.

Experts noted concerns over metadata and data sovereignty, suggesting that even without access to messages, user patterns could be analyzed. This marks another move in Iran's history of restricting WhatsApp, notably during the 2022 protests.
