Russian President Vladimir Putin has made his first public appearance since October 2024. Such events indicate a period of crisis in the Russian government.
Axar.az informs that this was reported in an article published by the opposition project “Agentstvo.Novosti” in Russia.
Kremlin-affiliated media outlets published footage of Putin getting out of his limousine in St. Petersburg on Sunday, July 27, and meeting people on the street.
The publication notes that in recent years, Putin has only communicated with the public after events that pose a threat to his authority - an example of which is the rebellion of Yevgeny Prigozhin:
“This time, the head of state appeared before the people after an increase in drone attacks on cities in central Russia. The Navy parade scheduled for St. Petersburg was also canceled for the first time due to security concerns. Despite the cancellation, Putin still came to the city, received a military salute from sailors and, as during the parade, took a boat ride on the Neva River.”
The publication adds that Putin last appeared in public during a visit to Bashkortostan in October last year. Before that, he communicated with the people during a visit to Tuva in September.
