There are two departments in the center: first molecular-genetic analyzes and second cytogenetic analyzes department.

There are many molecular methods of determination of mutations or micro deletions of genetic disorders. Chromosome analyzes is held by conversional and other methods in a cytogenetic center. Genetic Diagnosis Center is the only center which holds two of these departments.

Patients with β and α thalassemia, Glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, Cystic Fibrosis, Niemann-Pick and etc. were diagnosed who approached Biological Medicine. Also, oncogenes are investigated by sequencing and investigate genes BRXA1 and BRCA2 which cause breast cancer, TP53 which causes many oncological disorders, oncological genes like APC, KRAS which cause large intestine cancer. By these methods gene mutations which cause such diseases are found out and diagnosed before it gives oncological consequences.
