The U.S. electric car producer Tesla unveiled its first electric truck late on Thursday at an event in Los Angeles.

Axar.az reports citing AA that, Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said the articulated lorry has a range of 804 kilometers (499.5 miles) on a single charge.

Musk added that the overall cost of ownership of the lorry, the manufacture of which is planned for 2019, would be more economical than diesel engine trucks.

However, the Tesla chief did not reveal the truck's purchase price.

At the same event, Tesla also introduced a new version of its first sports car, the Roadster.

The Roadster has a range of almost 1,000 kilometers (621.3 miles) on a single charge with a maximum speed of 402 kilometers per hour (249.7 miles per hour).

It can reach up to 160 kilometers per hour (99.4 miles per hour) in 4.2 seconds.

The new Roadster will be produced in 2020 with a minimum price tag of $200,000.
