Helicopter tragedy and our neutrality

Russia attaches importance to friendly relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia. This allows Russia to be a neutral mediator in the Karabakh conflict.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He said that Russia has not forgotten its obligations under the CSTO and the allegations that Russia does not provide enough support to Armenia in the Karabakh conflict are unfounded.

Peskov also commented on the shooting down of a Mi-24 helicopter at the border.

"It's a real tragedy, two of our servicemen were killed. However, the immediate reaction and statements about the impartiality of the investigation and the readiness to punish the perpetrators allowed Azerbaijan to accept the apology," Peskov said.
