For the first time in the history of Azerbaijan-China trade relations, export cargo has been dispatched from Baku to China via railway.

Axar.az reports that this was shared by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.

The inaugural export train's departure ceremony was attended by high-level representatives from the railway sectors of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, the leadership of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route Secretariat, and senior officials from China’s Xi’an Chanba International Port Management Committee.

It is noted that the first "Baku-Xi'an" export block train consists of 62 40-foot containers. The cargo will be delivered multimodally via Kazakhstan to Xi’an, one of China's largest dry ports. As part of the project, it is planned to export a total of 15,000 tons, or 600 containers, to China along this route by the end of this year.
