WHO: Coronavirus situation has not weakened

The coronavirus has not changed, the severity of the disease has remained the same.

Axar.az reports that this was said by a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Russia Melita Vujnovich.

"Many people say that the virus is now weaker. However, it is not true. The virus hasn't changed. Its effectiveness and severity have remained as before."

According to her, there is the genetic diversity of the virus, but it does not mean anything. Since the primary genes are the same, which change its behaviour."

On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in China's Wuhan, and the causative agent is a new type of coronavirus officially named COVID-19.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a new coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.

The number of detected cases globally has exceeded 12 million, while more than a half-million lost lives.
