It is the anniversary of the genocide committed by the Armenian Dashnaks together with the Bolsheviks against the Azerbaijanis.
Axar.az informs that, 102 years have passed since the genocide.
Between March 30 and April 3, 1918, Baku Soviet and Dashnak Armenian armed groups against Azerbaijanis in Baku and various regions of Baku province, as well as in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Hajigabul, Salyan, Zangazur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan and other areas committed genocide.
According to official sources, as a result of the genocide, about 12,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and tens of thousands were missing. In March 1918, the Baku Commune began to implement a nefarious plan aimed at cleansing the Baku province of Azerbaijanis under the slogan of fighting counter-revolutionary elements.
During the March massacres, Armenians destroyed and destroyed many ancient buildings, historical monuments, including shrines, and the Ismaili building, one of the pearls of world architecture.
As a result of the fire opened by the navy in the Caspian Sea, the minarets of the Juma and Tazapir mosques were severely damaged. Dashnak armed groups burned the bodies of the people they brutally killed in the caravanserai.
March 31, 1919 and 1920 were twice marked by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic as a day of national mourning.
On March 26, 1998, President Heydar Aliyev signed a decree on the genocide of Azerbaijanis. From that day, March 31 is marked as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
