On January 22, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Radmila Shekerinska, NATO Deputy Secretary General.
Axar.az informs the meeting focused on the current agenda and prospects for cooperation within the partnership between Azerbaijan and NATO, the work carried out within partnership mechanisms, as well as regional and international security issues.
The parties emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation, noting that dialogue and interaction within the existing partnership make a positive contribution to regional security. Opportunities for cooperation in areas such as mine action, cybersecurity, and other fields were also discussed.
The NATO Deputy Secretary General commended Azerbaijan’s experience in participating in NATO peacekeeping operations and missions, its active support for processes in Afghanistan, defense reforms, and efforts to ensure adaptation. She also recalled with appreciation the visit of the delegation of permanent representatives of NATO member states to Azerbaijan last November.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, diplomatic efforts and confidence-building measures undertaken to ensure sustainable and lasting peace in the region, agreements reached at the Washington summit on August 8, prospects for a peaceful settlement, as well as regional projects in transport and infrastructure.
The officials also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
