Since the first day of the military escalation, our embassies and consulates in the region have been operating under heightened measures, with steps being taken to provide necessary support to our citizens.
Axar.az reports that Aykhan Hajizada, Head of the Press Service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this while responding to local media questions about the evacuation of Azerbaijani citizens in the Middle East.
According to him, so far, except for one individual, no Azerbaijani citizens have been injured. Regarding evacuations, he noted that today, 193 Azerbaijani citizens, 9 Azerbaijani citizens holding Georgian nationality, and 5 Azerbaijani citizens holding Russian nationality were evacuated from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Azerbaijan via a special Azerbaijan Airlines flight.
In addition, the return of Azerbaijani citizens from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) via regular flights is being facilitated by the relevant UAE airlines. Yesterday, a total of 257 Azerbaijani citizens returned to Azerbaijan. From Dubai, one regular flight is scheduled today, and two regular flights are planned on March 1 and 5.
Furthermore, efforts are ongoing to evacuate 200 Azerbaijani citizens currently in Qatar via a special flight. As Qatari airspace is currently closed, their evacuation is planned through Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, in line with the travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijani citizens in Iran are leaving the country via Azerbaijan and Turkey’s land borders, depending on their location. So far, 260 citizens have crossed into Azerbaijan.
Citizens currently in the region are urged to monitor the security situation carefully, follow the instructions and recommendations of local authorities, avoid crowded areas, and enhance their personal safety measures.
