Mojtaba Khamenei appointed Iran’s third Supreme Leader -

The Iranian Assembly of Experts has officially appointed Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim, the decision was made with a strong majority vote.

The Assembly emphasized that the selection process proceeded “immediately after the news of the martyrdom of the esteemed leader (Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei)”, despite ongoing security challenges and attacks on its offices.

The statement highlighted the continuity of leadership, noting that the Assembly acted to prevent a leadership vacuum, and formally declared:

“The Assembly of Experts… in today’s extraordinary session, based on the decisive vote of the esteemed members of the Assembly, appoints Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may God preserve him) as the third leader of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The Assembly also called on the Iranian public, including scholars and elites, to pledge allegiance to the new leader and maintain unity around the institution of the Supreme Leadership.
