Iran says no decision yet on new US talks in Islamabad

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has said that no final decision has yet been reached on holding a new round of talks with the United States in Islamabad.

Axar.az reports, citing IRIB, that Khatibzadeh stated the two sides have exchanged multiple messages, but Washington continues to insist on what Tehran describes as excessive demands.

He added that negotiations have not yet reached the stage of an actual meeting, as the United States has not moved away from its maximalist positions.

Khatibzadeh also said that no enriched nuclear material will be transferred to the United States, calling the issue non-negotiable.

Separately, he noted that new guidelines regarding the Strait of Hormuz will be introduced as part of the discussions, stressing that the waterway will remain open and safe for civilian passage.
