Climate change has impact on shallowing of Caspian Sea

“One of the most acute challenges our region faces, is the rapid decline in the level of the Caspian Sea,” said Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, as he addressed the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Axar.az informs that Prime Minister stated that at the initiative of Azerbaijan, bilateral working groups have been established with Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan to study the causes of the decline in the Caspian Sea level and develop appropriate response measures.

"Climate change also has a serious impact on the shallowing of the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan takes consistent measures to minimize the negative impact of climate change on the environment of the Caspian Sea,” Asadov noted.
