Ukraine strikes Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Russia

The Ukrainian army struck facilities at the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region overnight on August 22.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided the information on its Telegram channel.

A fire broke out at the facility following the strike, and the extent of the damage is being assessed.

It should be noted that the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery is part of Rosneft and is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries. It has an annual processing capacity of approximately 8.8 million tons of oil.

The facility produces more than 20 types of products, including components for motor and aviation fuel, diesel fuel and lubricants.
