The United States wants to promote the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and is ready to facilitate negotiations.

Axar.az reports that US Senator Roger Wicker said at a press conference in Yerevan.

"Our ultimate goal is peace, security and respect for rights in the entire region," he said.

Ben Cardin, chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, also touched on this topic and noted that the peace treaty should ensure peace on the borders for Armenia:

"The Armenian people should be sure that they can live in peace and there is no threat of military operations. These are the goals of the peace treaty. The peace agreement is important for Armenia, because Yerevan must be sure that there will be no military operations from the Azerbaijani side, the border crossing points will be open, and steps will be taken towards unresolved issues. We want the peace agreement to be signed soon."
