Military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy

The First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, General-Colonel Karim Valiyev, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Italy, visited the Unknown Soldier monument in St. Mark's Square with his delegation, laid a wreath, and commemorated his memory.

Axar.az reports that according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, the Chief of the General Staff met with Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the currently serving Chief of Staff of the Italian Armed Forces.

During the official welcoming ceremony at the General Staff, the national anthems of both countries were played after the honorary guard pass.

The meeting, which also included Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Rashad Aslanov, featured a briefing on the structure and operational directions of the Italian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces.

In both bilateral and broader meetings, the development prospects of military, military-technical, and military-educational cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, as well as regional security issues, were discussed.

General-Colonel K. Valiyev congratulated Admiral C. K. Dragone on his appointment as the head of NATO's Military Committee and wished him success in his new position.
