Russian-linked disinformation campaigns have falsely suggested that officials in key battleground states are planning to fraudulently influence the results of the upcoming US presidential election, authorities warned just hours before polling stations open on 5 November.

Axar.az reports that , citing Guardian, “Russia represents the most active threat,” stated the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the FBI, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on Monday.

“These efforts could incite violence, including targeting election officials. We anticipate Russian actors will release additional manufactured content with these themes through Election Day and in the days and weeks after polls close,” the agencies added, emphasizing that such activities are expected to escalate throughout election day and in the weeks that follow.

The statement also highlighted that Iran continues to pose a “significant foreign influence threat” to US elections.

It should be noted that winning in swing states is crucial for both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to secure the White House, and these states have previously been the focal point of unsubstantiated claims of election fraud.
