5 years have passed since the liberation of the city of Jabrayil from occupation.
Axar.az reports that the city of Jabrayil was liberated from Armenian occupation on October 4 as a result of the successful combat operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Army as a result of the counterattack launched on September 27, 2020.
On the first day of the fighting, the Azerbaijani Army, breaking through the front, forced the enemy to retreat. Within a few days, many villages of the Jabrayil region were liberated from occupation. The liberation of the city of Jabrayil from occupation was announced by the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, in his address to the people on October 4. In his address, the President stated that on October 4, in addition to the city of Jabrayil, the occupation of nine more villages of the Jabrayil region - Karkhulu, Shukurbayli, Yukhari Maralyan, Charaken, Dashkesan, Khorovlu, Decal, Mahmudlu, and Jafarabad - was also ended. Jabrayil was the first region to be liberated from occupation in the 44-day Patriotic War.
As a result of the Jabrayil operation, a significant number of Armenian army personnel and equipment were destroyed.
October 4 has already gone down in history as the day of the liberation of Jabrayil from occupation.
The medal “For the Liberation of Jabrayil” has been established in the Republic of Azerbaijan. By order of President Ilham Aliyev, servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan who demonstrated personal courage and valor by participating in combat operations to liberate the Jabrayil region from occupation were awarded the medal “For the Liberation of Jabrayil”.
By order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, October 4 was established as the Day of the City of Jabrayil.
It should be noted that the Jabrayil region was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces on August 23, 1993. During the occupation, the Armenians destroyed the city of Jabrayil and the villages of the region, razed cultural, historical, and religious monuments, cemeteries, and committed ecological terrorism.
