Statement from Iran regarding our embassy in Tehran

Iran hopes that Azerbaijan's embassy in Tehran will resume its activities and the employees will return.

Axar.az reports that Nasir Kanani, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, said this at a weekly press conference in Tehran.

He said that recently there have been mutual meetings and negotiations. The foreign ministers of both countries had a telephone conversation and exchanged wide views.

"We hope that Azerbaijan's embassy in Tehran will be restored after the successful completion of the measures," he stressed.

It should be noted that there was an armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran on January 27. As a result, one employee of the embassy was killed and two others were injured. The killer has been arrested, and a court investigation is underway. Following this, Azerbaijan suspended the activity of its embassy in Iran.
