Armenians committed a crime against humanity - Hajiyev

On the night of February 25-26, 1992, 613 peaceful Azerbaijanis, including 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly people, were mercilessly killed as a result of the attack and occupation of the city of Khojaly by the Armenian armed forces with the support of the 366th regiment of the former USSR.

Axar.az reports that Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, wrote about this in his account in "X".

"Another 1,000 people were injured, 1,275 people were taken hostage. To date, 150 people have gone missing from Khojaly.

The deliberate massacre of the Azerbaijani civilian population by the Armenian armed forces in the city of Khojaly on February 25-26, 1992 is "genocide" and a "crime against humanity".

The crimes committed in Khojaly are not an isolated or random act, but a part of Armenia's widespread and systematic ethnic cleansing policy and practice.

The Khojaly Genocide was the worst massacre of innocent civilians in Europe after the Second World War.

The Khojaly genocide took place in conditions of complete silence and indifference of the international community. The justice for the victims of Khojaly was ensured by the state of Azerbaijan itself. Khojaly was liberated from occupation in September 2023, and a group of organizers and executors of this crime will soon be brought before the court. But our biggest consolation is that the survivors of Khojaly and every citizen of Azerbaijan can visit the liberated Khojaly, all of Karabakh, and Eastern Zangezur with freedom, dignity and pride," H. Hajiyev said.
