The issue of changes in the water level of the Caspian Sea has been scientifically studied for nearly 200 years.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by oceanologist Vladimir Shevchenko.

He noted that wave heights sometimes reach several meters, and unfortunately, some problems remain unresolved.

The oceanologist explained that there is a connection between evaporation balance and river flow:

“The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed water body on the planet. It can be classified as the largest lake or sea based on its size, origin, depth, salinity, and the formation of its basin by ocean waters. The disaster in the Aral Sea was different. The Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers were used for cotton fields, and naturally, in a dry climate, the sea began to disappear. The Caspian Sea is primarily fed by rivers like the Volga, which stretches along the vast East European platform, and its flow does not change much.”

According to Vladimir Shevchenko, changes in the water level of the Caspian Sea are mainly due to natural causes.
