The variant of SOM (Stand-Off Ammunition) cruise missiles developed by ROKETSAN and intended to be delivered to Azerbaijan is called SOM SHAHIN.

Axar.az reports with reference to gdh that deliveries delayed due to the engine embargo applied by France are expected to take place in the near future with the use of local turbojet rocket engines.

SOM SHAHIN will be used on Akıncı UAV and Su-25 aircraft in service with the Azerbaijan Air Force. In particular, its integration with the Su-25 will enable long-range attacks without modernizing these aircraft.
