By the decision of the Turkish government, customs duties on certain types of plastic products imported from countries that are not members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have been increased. An exception has been made only for Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's decree regarding the change in import regulations has been published in the official government newspaper, "Resmi Gazete."

The Turkish Ministry of Trade stated that the increase in customs duties is related to efforts to protect and stimulate local production, as well as to reduce the country's trade deficit.

According to the government's decision, an additional fee ranging from $50 to $400 per ton will be charged for plastic products imported from non-WTO countries (excluding Azerbaijan).

The decision will take effect 30 days after its publication.
