The article "Azerbaijan's gas gambit to Europe - good news for Russia" in the European edition of "Politico" is nothing but an ugly example of disinformation.
Axar.az reports that Hikmat Hajiyev, assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, wrote about this on page X.
According to him, the article lacks professional fact-checking and is full of speculation and hearsay:
"It is shameful to say the least that European standards of journalism and media have fallen to such a low level. The European Union is particularly sensitive and concerned about global disinformation in the media. This is understandable! But how does the European media react when they spread fake news and lies about others?
One fact completely refutes this article: in 2024, Azerbaijan did not import gas from Russia. Point! Gas production in Azerbaijan is carried out within the framework of cooperation with international partners. The volume of production and export is obvious to everyone.
Azerbaijan will continue to contribute to the energy security of its partners based on its existing resources and agreed agreements. We demand an apology from the European edition of "Politico" and the withdrawal of this fake article!"
