The statements made by Garo Paylan, a former deputy of Armenian origin from the HDP of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and a member of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) against Azerbaijan in a program he attended in Armenia are unacceptable.

Axar.az reports that these views were included in a statement on the subject by the Federation of Turkish-Azerbaijani Associations (TADEF).

TADEF's press secretary and chairman of the Istanbul Turkiye Azerbaijan Association (ISTAD) Safar Garagoyunlu assessed Garo Paylan's statements as a provocation intended to create chaos in the region:

"As a federation, we strongly condemn these statements. Such a statement at a time when the region needs peace and stability is nothing more than hostility. We want Paylan to be stripped of his Turkish citizenship and punished most severely. This hatred and hatred demonstrated at a time when the peace that the peoples of the South Caucasus have been waiting for for so long is so close is nothing more than irritating the region and exposing the unfortunate ideology of the person who expressed these words."

Noting that Paylan thus showed that he was serving imperialist ideas, Safar Garagoyunlu said:

"We want to remind him that Azerbaijanis, who were expelled from their homeland for many years due to the hypocrisy of Armenians, are returning to their historical lands today and this great return will continue. Contrary to the narrow-minded ideas of people like Garo Paylan, peace and stability will continue in the Caucasus, and the peoples there will finally achieve prosperity thanks to Azerbaijan."
