Trials of Armenian war criminals continue

A court hearingis are being held on the criminal case of persons of Armenian origin accused of war crimes on February 7.

Axar.az reports that at the trial held at the Baku Court Complex under the chairmanship of Judge Zeynal Agayev of the Baku Military Court, prosecutors are continuing to announce the operative part of the indictment.

Once the operative part of the indictment is read,defendants will be given an opportunity to speak regarding the charges brought against them.

It should be noted that they are accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including aggressive warfare, genocide, forced displacement, persecution, torture, military looting, and other illegal acts committed against Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people by the Armenian state and its armed forces, including the former self-proclaimed "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic" established in Azerbaijan's occupied territories and its illegal armed formations.

Charges have been brought against 15 individuals - Harutyunyan Arayik Vladimiri, Ghukasyan Arkadi Arshaviri, Sahakyan Bako Saaki, Ishkhanyan Davit Rubeni, Manukyan David Azatini, Babayan David Klimi, Mnatsakanyan Levon Genrikovich, Beglaryan Vasily Ivani, Gazaryan Erik Roberti, Allahverdyan David Nelsoni, Stepanyan Gurgen Gomeri, Balayan Levon Romiki, Babayan Madat Arakelovich, Martirosyan Garik Grigori, Pashayan Melikset Vladimiri - under Articles 100 (planning, preparing, initiating or waging aggressive war), 102 (attacking persons or institutions under international protection), 103 (genocide), 105 (extermination of population), 106 (slavery), 107 (deportation or forced displacement of population), 109 (persecution), 110 (forcible detention), 112 (deprivation of liberty in violation of international law), 113 (torture), 114 (mercenarism), 115 (violation of laws and customs of war), 116 (violation of international humanitarian law during armed conflicts), 118 (war plunder), 120 (intentional murder), 192 (illegal entrepreneurship), 214 (terrorism), 214-1 (financing of terrorism), 218 (organizing criminal community (criminal organization)), 228 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their components, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices), 270-1 (acts threatening aviation security), 277 (attempt on life of state or public figure), 278 (violent seizure of power or violent retention of power, violent change of constitutional order), 279 (creation of armed formations or groups not provided for by legislation) and other articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
