Azerbaijan stopped the war in time, but did not take a single step back from its policy.
Axar.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev spoke about this at the opening of the first stage of the Sarijaly village of Aghdam.
The head of state noted that as a result of the Second Karabakh War, the city of Aghdam and the villages that were under occupation at that time were returned without a single shot being fired:
"Along with Aghdam, Lachin, and Kalbajar regions were also liberated. We were going to liberate these lands anyway, but if the war had continued, there would have been many losses. That is why we stopped the war in time, but did not take a single step back from our policy. Three years later, we took full control, restored our sovereignty and territorial integrity, and today separatism has been uprooted."
The President emphasized that people here will live comfortably, without fear of anyone, with dignity:
"I am sure that they will live happily. Because both the lands have been returned and, at the same time, the national dignity of our people has been restored. For 30 years, Armenia has been trying in every way to ensure that not a single centimeter of land is returned to us. The foreign forces behind it were also in solidarity with them, in alliance. But they did not take into account one thing, and that is the strength, will, and courage of the Azerbaijani state and the heroism of our Army."
