Azerbaijan hopes to have friendly relations with the United States again.

Axar.az reports that these words were made by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his speech at the meeting with the participants of the III Shusha Global Media Forum on July 19.

“Our representatives are in contact. I believe that we are in the right direction.”

The head of state noted that the previous US administration had led relations to an abyss.

“They supported territorial integrity in the Ukraine issue, but we did not have such an attitude. During the Biden era, steps were taken that were not considered friendly.”

The head of state noted that many issues unite us.

“Relations with the Trump administration are good. We hope that positive trends will continue. This is already visible. We see America’s participation in the processes in the South Caucasus. They are trying to contribute to the resolution of the long-standing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I think that in the future we will hear more news.”
