Real Madrid appoints Mourinho as head coach

Spanish football club Real Madrid has agreed to pay €15 million to Benfica to appoint Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho as its head coach.

Axar.az reports that the announcement was made by Benfica's press service.

The Lisbon-based club also revealed the name of its new head coach. The team will now be managed by Marco Silva.

The 63-year-old Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013. During his time in charge, the Madrid club won one Spanish league title, as well as the Spanish Cup and Super Cup.

Mourinho had been Benfica’s head coach since September 2025. During his managerial career, he has also coached Uniao de Leiria, FC Porto, Chelsea F.C., Manchester United F.C., Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Inter Milan, AS Roma and Fenerbahce S.K..
