Ukrainian footballer Vyacheslav Sharpar dies aged 39

Ukrainian footballer Vyacheslav Sharpar has died at the age of 39.

Axar.az reports that the player drowned in the sea off the coast of the Greek city of Loutraki on June 2, the same day he had celebrated his birthday. His body was found on June 11.

It is reported that the footballer had four children.

Sharpar played for Ukrainian clubs including Volyn, Vorskla, Arsenal Kyiv, Metalist, and Metalurh.

He also played abroad for Sheriff in Moldova and Riga in Latvia, winning domestic league titles. His only international appearance came in 2007 for Ukraine’s youth national team, where he played two matches.
