Messi sets new World Cup record

Argentina captain Lionel Messi has set a new record in FIFA World Cup history.

Axar.az reports the 39-year-old became the first player to register 10 assists at the FIFA World Cup.

Messi reached the milestone during Argentina's 2026 World Cup quarterfinal against Switzerland.

His assist was converted by Alexis Mac Allister, who gave Argentina a 1-0 lead.
