Yamal sets historic football record

Spain winger Lamine Yamal has written his name into the history books.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, Yamal became the first player to win both the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup before turning 19.

The record was sealed after Spain's 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final.

Yamal had already lifted the European Championship trophy with Spain in 2024.

The 19-year-old played in all eight of Spain's matches at the 2026 World Cup, scoring once. At UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, he featured in all seven games, registering one goal and four assists.
