Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia will be sidelined for around three weeks after suffering a meniscus injury in his right knee during Wednesday’s match against Racing Santander.

Axar.az reports, citing Barca Universal, that Garcia was substituted at halftime after experiencing discomfort when he slipped on the rain-soaked pitch while attempting to retrieve the ball.

Medical tests conducted on Thursday confirmed the injury, while Barcelona’s medical staff ruled out the need for surgery. The injured knee is also different from the one that caused Garcia problems last season.

Garcia is expected to miss Barcelona’s upcoming match against Sevilla and could return after the next international break.

Wojciech Szczesny replaced Garcia against Racing, although his error contributed to Racing’s second goal. Summer signing Dominik Livakovic, who has yet to make his Barcelona debut, is also an option for manager Hansi Flick.
