Today, the president of Spain’s Barcelona football club, Joan Laporta, will visit Baku once again.

Axar.az reports that Laporta will be accompanied by club directors Joan Soler and Xavier Puig.

The main purpose of the visit is to open a new Barcelona academy in Azerbaijan and explore potential investment opportunities.

Laporta and his team are expected to receive a high-level welcome, thanks to Azerbaijani businessman Adnan Ahmadzade, who is a close friend of Laporta. Ahmadzade has connections with various world-famous footballers and previously hosted Lionel Messi in Baku.

The Barcelona president sees this visit as a step toward securing global partnerships and crucial investments for the club. It is anticipated that Ahmadzade’s influence and connections will yield positive results for the initiative.

Notably, Laporta previously visited Baku on November 16, 2024, to attend the COP29 climate summit.
