Former German national team player of Turkish origin, Mesut Ozil, has reacted to the Republican People's Party's (CHP) boycott call in Turkiye.

Axar.az reports Ozil shared his response on his X account.

"Let’s not harm our local and national brands under the name of a boycott. Let’s protect our social unity!" Ozil stated.

He also included the hashtag #NotBoycottNationalHarm in his post.

CHP member Ali Mahir Basarir responded to Ozil, saying, "My local and national brother, which national team did you play for?"

This reaction has sparked widespread debate on social media.

It should be noted that in February of this year, Mesut Ozil was appointed as a member of the Central Decision and Executive Board of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
