On September 27 - Memorial Day, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Victory Park, which is under construction in Baku.
Axar.az reports that the head of state and the first lady laid flowers in front of the memorial stone at the entrance of the park.
It should be noted that in the Decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on December 3, 2020, the creation of the Patriotic War Memorial Complex and the Victory Museum in Baku in order to preserve and display to the public the incomparable heroism of the Azerbaijani people in the Patriotic War and the magnificent historical Victory they won, and to perpetuate the dear memory of our martyrs was assigned. In the past, the project of the Memorial Complex of the Patriotic War and the Victory Museum was prepared. According to the project, it is planned to create a museum in the territory of the complex in order to keep alive the memory of our soldiers and officers who fought heroically in the Patriotic War and all our martyrs. The names of each of the martyrs of the Patriotic War will be engraved in the museum complex, the exhibits collected here will once again demonstrate the bravery of our soldiers and officers who fought for the liberation of our territories from occupation and the determination of our people. The complex will be surrounded by a park.
Zafar Park, which is being built on 8 Noyab Avenue, will cover more than nine hectares. 44 arch elements were used at the entrance to the area. The arches will mark the beginning of the symbolic road to Victory. The arch at the entrance portal will be 44 meters high and 22 meters wide. The names of the heroes of the Patriotic War will be engraved on the arch. The tree element in the upper part of the arch will create a symbolic image of a growing Azerbaijan, prosperity, prosperity, a new life and a path to Victory.
The history of the Victory will be marked on the "Iron Fist" symbol that will be created at the main entrance of the Victory Museum. "Iron fist" will be a symbol of the unity of the Leader, People, State and Army, which is the basis of Victory. The names of our soldiers and officers who died in the First and Second Karabakh wars will be engraved on the wall of the museum.
A memorial monument will be erected on November 8 – Victory Day in the passage to the park. The monument will embody two powerful symbols - Victory Day and unbreakable unity as a symbol of eternity. Greenery will be planted around the memorial, reflecting the patterns and decorative elements of Karabakh carpets.
In Zafar Park, a theme garden, cascade-type waterfall, Karabakh memory garden, and a general viewing point of the park will be created. At the end of the park, the construction of the Freedom Flag Square is planned. A memorial garden will be created at the end of the park. The path leading down to this section will be surrounded by tall borders of flowers and greenery. Rest areas and seats will be placed around the memorial garden. The Azerbaijani flag will fly in the centre of the water basin. The road to the Freedom Flag Square will consist of 44 bronze floors as a symbol of the Patriotic War.
