A PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet carrying 64 people and a U.S. Army Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter with three soldiers collided midair Wednesday near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

Axar.az, citing CBS news, reports that the crash, captured on a livestream camera, occurred at 8:47 p.m. and resulted in a fiery explosion over the Potomac River.

As of late Wednesday, at least 18 bodies had been recovered, with no survivors found.

About 300 first responders are searching the freezing Potomac River, where the aircraft crashed. The crash site contained three debris fields, and search efforts continued with police boats and divers.

The Black Hawk belonged to the 12th Aviation Battalion out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and was on a training flight.

President Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and several officials reacted to the tragedy, with Trump questioning the cause and calling it "a bad situation that should have been prevented." The incident marks the first major U.S. commercial air crash in over 15 years, the last occurring in 2009 with a Colgan Air flight near Buffalo, New York.
