A delegation from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, General-Colonel Kamaladdin Heydarov, participated in the 8th "World Summit on Crisis and Emergency Management" held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on April 8-9, 2025.
Axar.az reports the main goal of the summit, attended by delegations consisting of leaders of organizations responsible for emergency management from various countries, is to expand international cooperation and exchange of experience in order to effectively combat emergencies, particularly to identify innovative approaches to ensure global preparedness for transboundary crises and to hold discussions in this field.
In his speech at the event, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov emphasized the importance of the summit, stating that it serves as a crucial platform for expanding international cooperation, exchanging experience, and identifying advanced innovations in order to raise global preparedness for emergencies, particularly for providing quick and efficient responses to disasters.
The minister, providing information about the successful efforts made in our country to combat emergencies, emphasized the importance of coordinated action to identify and eliminate the dangers posed by disasters, especially against the backdrop of global climate change. He also noted that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan actively cooperates with relevant international organizations, including the International Civil Defence Organization, both at a bilateral level with foreign institutions and within the framework of international organizations. It was also emphasized that Azerbaijan, as a member of the UN International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), is always ready for active participation in international disaster and rescue operations.
In his speech, the minister, recalling the successful organization of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan, highlighted that our country has been providing strong support for solving global issues, including environmental protection.
It should be noted that during the two-day summit, speeches were heard from the heads of the national authorities responsible for emergency response, and extensive discussions were held.
As part of the event, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov held a number of bilateral meetings and also visited an exhibition showcasing the latest technology and equipment for emergency response, as well as various tools.
