An Azerbaijani-born soldier has been killed in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Axar.az informs journalist Anar Natigoglu from Odesa shared the news on social media.

Faiq Faig oglu Shofel had been serving as a reconnaissance officer in Ukraine’s airborne assault units for several years and took part in numerous operations.

He was killed on October 12 during a combat mission.

According to reports, his father is originally from Shirvan, Azerbaijan, while his mother is of Ukrainian descent.

A farewell ceremony for the fallen soldier will be held at the “Officers’ House” in Odesa at 10:00 a.m. on October 16, followed by his burial at the city’s Muslim cemetery.
