Sharaa: Syria aims for full lifting of Western sanctions

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has stated that his government aims to achieve the complete lifting of Western sanctions imposed on the country.

Axar.az reports that he made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Syrian community in Washington as part of his official visit to the United States.

He emphasized that removing sanctions is crucial for restoring economic stability and expanding international cooperation in Syria:

“We have entered the final stage of our struggle against unjust sanctions. This struggle will end with their complete removal. It is a key condition for the country’s recovery and development.”

Al-Sharaa also called on members of the Syrian diaspora to play an active role in the nation’s reconstruction:

“Rebuilding the country will only be possible with the participation of all Syrians.”

It should be noted that U.S. and EU sanctions on Syria have significantly restricted several of the country’s economic and financial sectors.
