Azerbaijan wins 3 boxing finals at Islamic Games

The semifinals of the boxing competitions at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, have concluded.

Axar.az reports that 3 athletes of the Azerbaijani national team won and advanced to the final.

Məhəmmədəli Qasımzadə (60 kg) defeated Tamer Almatrfi (Saudi Arabia) in the first round. With a complete advantage, our boxer will face Madiyar Daniyarov (Uzbekistan) in the final.

Səidcəmşid Cəfərov (80 kg) was stronger than Husseyn İaşaiş (Jordan) in the semifinal – 5:0 (30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 29:28). He will fight Sultan Osmanlı (Turkiye) for the gold medal.

Aynur Mikayılova (57 kg) defeated Noura Abunabı (Palestine) 5:0 (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). Our boxer will face Xumorabonu Mamajonova (Uzbekistan) in the final.

Other boxers from our team, Fatimə Mehdiyeva (65 kg) and Sərxan Əliyev (70 kg), won bronze medals at the Islamic Games.

It should be noted that in tomorrow’s final matches, Nərgiz Zeynalova (54 kg) will also enter the ring. Our boxer’s opponent will be Ayşen Taşkın (Turkiye).
