US approves $9B missile sale to Saudi Arabia

The US government has approved the possible sale of missiles for the "Patriot" air defense systems to Saudi Arabia.

Axar.az reports that the information was released by the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency.

According to the report, Saudi Arabia requested to purchase 730 "PAC-3 MSE" surface-to-air guided missiles and associated equipment from the US. The deal, valued at 9 billion dollars, has been approved by the US State Department, and an official notification has been sent to Congress.

The statement noted that the sale of the missiles to Saudi Arabia aligns with US foreign policy and national security objectives.

The document emphasized that this sale will not alter the balance of power in the region. According to the Pentagon, the agreement will not negatively affect the combat capabilities of the US Armed Forces.
