The entire world sees the TRIPP project (or the Zangezur corridor) as a path toward opening communications and achieving lasting peace, while Robert Kocharyan is focusing on so‑called “security risks” and doing everything he can to sabotage the project.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Taron Chakhoyan, deputy head of the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office.
According to the Armenian official, disrupting TRIPP could be viewed as the beginning of a war, which he says is the hidden plan of opposition forces led by Robert Kocharyan:
“Let Kocharyan say which country he is declaring war on and at the cost of whose children’s blood. Has he only now remembered the Iranian border? Why didn’t he think about this when negotiations were underway over Meghri (the issue of handing this region to Azerbaijan)?”
Chakhoyan recalled that the railway line between mainland Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan was dismantled during Kocharyan’s time in power in Armenia:
“If those rails weren’t made of gold, why did you tear them up and consume them? We are rebuilding what you destroyed, and on top of that you label it. No one asks Kocharyan how he became a dollar millionaire in this poor country?”
