Netanyahu to meet with Trump in Washington on Wednesday

Israel said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday to discuss U.S.–Iran nuclear talks, amid rising regional tensions, NBC reported.

Axar.az reports that Netanyahu’s office said Israel insists any agreement must also curb Iran’s ballistic missile program and end its support for militant groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

The meeting follows indirect U.S.–Iran talks in Oman, which showed little progress but may resume soon. Trump described the discussions as positive while reiterating that military force remains an option.

The U.S. also included its top Middle East military commander in the talks for the first time, underscoring the seriousness of the standoff.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that if the U.S. attacks Iran, Tehran would retaliate against U.S. bases in the region, while stressing that missile capabilities and defense issues are non-negotiable. Gulf Arab states fear any escalation could trigger a wider regional war, recalling last year’s brief but intense Israel-Iran conflict.
