Barcelona President resigns ahead of elections

The president of the Spanish club Barcelona, ​​Juan Laporta, has resigned.

Axar.az reports that this decision is related to his candidacy in the new presidential elections to be held next month.

According to the club's official statement, Laporta took this step in order to participate in the elections scheduled for March 15, in accordance with the requirements of the statute. Along with him, vice presidents Elena Fort, Antonio Escudero, and seven other members of the board of directors have also resigned to participate in the electoral process.

Rafael Yuste will temporarily manage the club during the transition period until a new management is formed. The term of office of the board of directors will end on June 30.
